Are you ready to take your coaching business to the next level?

If you answered yes to this question, then you’re probably going to need an OBM.  Not sure how the heck to hire?!?!? Don’t worry…I got you, girl!

An OBM, as you know, is an Online Business Manager, and their goal is to oversee your daily operations and make sure your business is growing in as many ways as possible.

It takes a special person to be a successful OBM, so you cannot just hire anyone for this skilled position.  Here are some tips to make the whole hiring process a lot easier!

5 Steps to Hire Your OBM

1.)Create a List of Your Expectations

Before you even start your search you need to have a clear idea of who you want to fill this role.  I suggest you create your list of expectations and the projects you want them to help out on. Remember …an OMB integrates tasks, instead of doing everything themselves, so this list may change a little before it is finalized.  You are not writing a job description for a VA but for a manager…there is a big difference.

However, it is a great place to start still, so you can determine the amount of work that is needed, as well as the number of hours that will be required.

2.) Start with an Online Search

I strongly suggest skipping all the “Googling” and posting in Facebook groups just to get a million job opp responses #whohastimetoreadallthosecomments.  Go straight to the International Association of OBM’s.  They have a directory of Certified OBM’s or can submit an RFP.  Once you have narrowed it down a little, you can look at their websites, read the testimonials from past clients, and finally make contact to set up the important first appointment.

3.) Make Sure They Are Certified

This naturally brings me to my next point…make sure they are certified.  This is not one of those certificates of completion type things but a true certification process that involves a week of testing that OBM’s have to complete to be certified.  Their test results are graded by a board that are made up of online entrepreneurs, coaches and other OBM’s.

4.) Compare OBMs

You may fall in love with the first OBM you have a meeting with, but it is always best to meet with a few others and then compare your feelings for each!  You may realize, while the first OBM was amazing, the last one you met with is phenomenal and will truly meet your needs the best. You could have missed out on an incredible opportunity if you simply hired the first OBM immediately.

5.) Do a Test Project to Make Sure it is the Right Fit

Frequently I do a test project with new clients.  This allows us to test each other out and make sure this is the right fit for both of us.  A typical test project is my Business Blueprint…we basically take a problem or project that will take about 12 weeks to complete, map the entire process out.  If you decide you want us to implement the 12-week plan awesome…if not you can take the plan and have your VA complete. Either way, it is a great way to “dip your toe” in 🙂
